You have a file called .htaccess and you want to rename your htaccess.txt to .htaccess ...

You cannot rename a file with the same filename as a file that already exists with that filename. You need to do something with the file that you have that is named .htaccess - rename that file or delete it. Then you can rename htaccess.txt as .htaccess.

Hi

Ok
There is a htaccess.txt and a .htaccess file in the directory

I renamed the .htaccess and and the system created another one with 0 bytes in it.
I then renamed the htaccess.txt aswell to somthing else (cant rename to .htaccess, because another one already exist)

On site I still cant login to forum

Do you think I need to reinstall kunena?

I think that you need to deal with the issue as to why you have a .htaccess file that is 0 bytes long.

If you delete your .htaccess file (that is 0 bytes long) and then use the standard htaccess file that ships with the J! 1.6.1 installation kit - extract the file from the kit and copy it to the root folder of your website - and then rename that file to .htaccess (after you have removed your existing .htaccess file) and you enable Joomla SEF rewrite in your Global Configuration, you will have less problems ... but even those things may not fix your "redirection" issues.

Read the Wiki guide Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) .

Because you are using J! 1.6.1, read what I posted 6 messages ago in this topic. J! 1.6.1 has its own special problems. As I mentioned in another topic in which you asked questions about J! 1.6.1 and K 1.6.3, J! 1.6.1 may not suit everyone. In my opinion, if you want to create a site that works (and you don't know too much about J! 1.6) I would suggest that you use J! 1.5.23 instead.

I've been searching all morning to find a fix for this error after turning on SEF Url's in Joomla.

Here's all I did to fix it:

In my menu items I opened the forum menu item, then under alias I changed it from "forum" to "forum2", saved it and now Kunena works perfect again.

Hi
I use Kunena in my Joomla site, and just turned on my SEF in Joomla config settings, now the URL's look nice but my Forum does not work 100%. All works but I get an error if I click on any of the Category links, the page does not open.

What should my settings be? Where should I turn off or on what?
