I screwed up the installation process in Joomla 1.5 irretrievably . After three days of messing with it and only making it worse, I finally got fed up and uninstalled it thinking I would start over from scratch. Now I can't reinstall it.
Have I effectively banned myself from ever using Kunena Forums?
Please understand that I have no real experience as a web designer and that much of the terminology used in the support forum goes completely over my head.
Do I have any options left? Or do I need to build a whole new website just to have a forum?

I don't provide support by PM, because this can be useful for someone else.

V1.6.3
I installed it three days ago.
I have no idea why I can't reinstall it. When I try, it says:
* Warning! Failed to move file.
* JFolder::create: Could not create directory
* Unable to create destination
I tried uploading it from the package file and tried directly from the url.

Please read carefully

"Could not create directory" is usually a problem with Joomla permissions.

OK. Thanks for the feedback. Here's the why I needed to reinstall it and what has happened since:
Last night my forums were working fine. This morning, when I tried to access anything below the category level (any topic), I got this:
The page isn't redirecting properly
Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.*
This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies.
I assumed it was a problem with my install a few days earlier and problems I'd been having with the Kunena Menu. I thought I'd basically broken something.
After my post here, I asked Joomla support if they could just wipe the slate clean and I would rebuild the website from scratch because Kunena is vital to the site.
They did.
For the last hour I've been rebuilding the site. I installed Kunena successfully and thought my problems were solved. The only other thing I've done to the site aside from basic stuff, is replace the logo.
Five minutes ago a checked on the forums and guess what?

Considering I haven't really done anything to the site, I no longer think its something I've done. My site is in the demo mode for Joomla 1.5. I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

Ah! Thank you for providing that much-needed clue to what was happening. I have merged your topic with another one that explains the issues and makes some suggestions about what you need to solve your problem.
You either have a problem with the way that you have setup your Joomla SEO (the correct procedure is explained in a reference in the K 1.6 Installation Guide that I mentioned earlier). In particular you should see Search Engine Optimization (SEO) in the Wiki.
The other possibility is that you have a conflicting Joomla menu item and you need to remove it. This is also a very common source of these problems. You should remove any and all references that you have on your site to the "forum" and use the Kunena Create Menu feature to restore the settings properly.
If you attend to these two matters you should quickly resolve your problems. If this does not work, you should post your K 1.6 configuration report so that we can get a better handle on the problem. Thanks.
