Hi,
I'm installing K 1.6 fresh on a new install of J 1.5.23, all seems fine, but when I click on a category or post the page doesn't load, it hangs.
Any help appreciated, my config is below:
Richard

G'day, fnar98, and welcome to Kunena.

I think you have a problem with your Joomla menu - or menu setup, in general - and when you say that your site "hangs" does the "hang" ever time-out or resolve in some way (like, after a minute or two)? What web browser are you using? (Unfortunately, Internet Explorer is woeful when it comes to displaying error messages; most of the time IE simply returns "the page cannot be displayed" without telling you why. This is one of the main reasons why web developers prefer to use other browsers in preference to IE ... but still keep IE around for the one-in-five users who still haven't made the jump from IE to something else)

Do you get a browser error?

Hi Sozzled,
Thank you for your reply. I have looked at my menus, and found the problem. Thank you very much for pointing me in the right direction.

I had created a second menu item identical to the main Kunena menu item, and by removing this the redirect loop resolved itself.

I was using Internet Explorer, as I was at work at the time and it is the only program I'm allowed to use. Now I'm at home, and using Firefox, I do see the error message.

Thank you again!

Ric

Suddenly, half of our categories are not loading when selected. We are receiving this error

the page isn't redirecting properly

Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

* This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept
cookies.

This happened all of a sudden, no changes or adjustments have been made to the forum, we have not updated this or anything else, half the categories simply stopped resolving when attempting to access them. We can see them on the main forum page, but we are unable to access them to read the posts or make posts.

Replied by nateb123 on topic Topics Do Not Load
Ive just installed Kunena V 1.6.3 and I posted the first topic in "Welcome Mat". When I click the title of the topic that shows up in the topic list the page reloads back to the topic list.

When I turn off SEF everything works great...Also when I unpublished the "Forum" from main menu everything works. I know the issue lies in SEF URLs. I did manage to fix the index "this page is not redirecting" error by changing menu item forum to forums. Didnt work for topics tho.

Update:

Ive changed the menu item "Forum" to an external link type with the url mywebsite.com/forum/index. Everything works now but I do hope the developers of Kunena can fix this bug because it is real and I have just spent several hours figuring out a work around. If I remember correctly earlier versions of Kunena didn't install a menu automatically. It is an awesome feature but seems a bit buggy with SEF. Anyway not complaining, Kunena is awesome and a big thanks to the developers for such a great component!
