Yes, craig, we've seen this issue before and that's what this topic is about. I suggest you read through the information in this topic to see if there is something here to help you.

I deleted the kunena menu on top of what I did which all there is now is the two menu items total (front page, kunena index). hikrs.com/freshinstall/forum I wonder if I'm better off with a sef.

Josh, what do you mean you're "better off with a SEF"? What SEF are you using? I've been following your problems closely over the past couple of weeks and I realise we have never asked you this question before.

Are you using a third-party SEF product, like sh404SEF, for example?

Third-party SEF products are also a major factor involved in poor forum performance. Notice that I wrote forum performance, not Kunena performance.

Now that you have deleted your Kunena menu  you now have an error message on your forum page:

Kunena Menu is missing: No navigation was found for menu item /forum (ItemID=12). See our documentation on how to create customised menus (link).

How about you put the menu back again?

Ok so on the sample site I reinserted the menu which works fine with no error message.

As for the sef deal, I do not use an sef, the only reason my urls are simpler is because I use joomla's built in url simplifier which is found in the configurations of the admin panel of joomla.

Here are my SEO Settings:
Search Engine Friendly URLs: Yes
Use Apache mod_rewrite: Yes
Add suffix to URLs: No

I believe this is how it was supposed to be according to the kunena docs. When adding suffix it does not help one bit.

Thank you for your reply.

I asked for the information in order for me to understand the two points you made in your earlier message:

We now know that on your new test site you are only using Joomla SEO but you want to know how to implement two menus.

Other people looking at what you have done are probably wondering how this has anything to do with the "redirect loop" problem - to a certain extent, so am I - but I think I can see what you're trying to prove. Although what your test site does not have any "redirect loop" issues, it does have some serious performance issues and perhaps the reason that it has these performance issues are the underlying cause of why your main site has the redirect loop problems.

First of all, can you please do the following on your test site - to establish that we both know what's causing the performance issues. I would like you to trash the menu "forummmen" and all the menu items in it. I also want you to permanently delete everything in your menu trash. When you have done this, please let us know so that we can see the performance of your test site forum. Thank you.

I don't want this to sound rude, but I'll have to show you full proof that I did all this.

The "forummen" menu is only on the front page which is for me as the site owner to get a view of the forums, the second link on the top menu is a link rather than a kunena index that way there's no conflicting issues (and yes, the alias is different from the actual forum url on the link at the top menu). The "Forummen" is the same menu as the one seen on the forum, it's just a module showing it on the front page. Last time I did what you requested, it showed the error message which is when you requested for me to bring back the kunena menu.

I now updated the test site so that it's back to only 2 menu items, below should give you a pretty good idea of what everything looks like.

Here are some screen shots:

First Set of Plugins:

Second Set of Plugins:

This is what my menu trash looks like (empty)

This is the kunena menu (empty)

This is the main menu (Two items, entry kunena and homepage)

This is all the modules (2 modules, one published and one not, both are mainmenu modules)
