Well I'm currently at my high school which the url is blocked (darn McaFee) and I tried yesterday which when clicking the catogry it badly lagged.

Also a future note to the admins, if I'm worried about my password being hijacked from signing up for a site, I use a different one, I suppose that would take too much time though. ;)

none: Now I understand your problem. The "redirect loop" problem normally occurred whenever users attempted to display their Kunena forum entry page. In your case (and in the case of trancyanz) a different problem occurs after you have opened Kunena but when you try to access one of the Kunena categories. Even though the symptoms of the problem seem to be the same, the error messages given by the browser are different. That is why it has taken us so long understand the nature of your problem.

In the "redirect loop" problem the browser (Firefox) issues the following error message:

Redirect Loop Error, Redirection limit for this URL exceeded. Unable to load the requested page. This may be caused by cookies that are blocked.

The browser has stopped a connection because the site is redirecting requests to itself in a manner which prevents it from ever completing.

The error message in this case, however, is

The page isn't redirecting properly. Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete. This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies.

These are two very similar looking error messages but, as you can see, they are different! Unfortunately, the Firefox website doesn't contain much help about these issues except to say that "the website may be broken."

On the website in question ( www.vinnumber.info/forum.html ) Kunena reports that it takes an extraordinarily long time to load the page (between 1.5-3 seconds). This fact alone indicates that there is other software running on the website that is conflicting with Kunena and adding to the overall site performance worries; either that or the site is very badly misconfigured (in a Joomla sense).

So let us again ask the question: what other software is being used on this website? It is my suspicion that there is some third-party SEF product (like ArtioSEF, sh404SEF, JoomSEF) being used and that is what is causing all of these problems. I have written several times in this topic what are the potential causes for the "redirect loop" problem. The causes of the "page isn't redirecting problem" are similar and I advise you to look in the same places (see msg #2 for a list of those).

Here are some other references that might assist with this problem: from the Joomla support forum .

One other recommendation that I would also make, is to make the following changes to the Global Configuration:

Search Engine Friendly URLs = Yes
Use Apache mod_rewrite = Yes (you must have a properly-functioning .htaccess file to make this work)
Add suffix to URLs= No

Thanks for your answer!

As I also said I DO NOT use any SEF component. I will send you an admin access to my backend if you want and you also can take a look at it. I really want to figure out waht is going on because in another case I have to change Kunena for something else what I don't want to.

It may be necessary to remove and uninstall some other Joomla extension that you are using. Do you have a test site (that has the same errors as the site we have been discussing) that we can use? I do not think that it's advisable to provide us with administrator access to your live site. Let us establish the cause and remedy using a test site of yours.

It may also be necessary to copy new files to this site to fix the problems. We would also need FTP access for those purposes. If you accept these conditions and you are aware of the possibility that there are no guarantees that we will be able to solve this problem (or that we may, in fact, accidentally wreck your test site) then please indicate that you are prepared for those possibilities.

I had the same problem, and I fixed it by placing an "Alias link" to "Kunena Menu -> Forum -> Index" page in my real menu, like on the attachment fix.jpg
Don't place the direct link to "Kunena Forum -> Index" like on the fix_no.jpg attachment
