Hmmm - well, I know that is not it. Because we have another site on that server that is very, very quick. (Fireboard though... with stacks of posts...)

If you have another site you might start by comparing exactly what the differences are in each site and start investigating what may be causing the issues.
Also, are you sure its on the same SERVER? If you have a hosting package somewhere they likely have several servers. One site could be on an overpopulated server and the other on a newer server or one that is less crowded.

There can be 2-60 virtual servers in one server. Usually cheap hosting contains huge amount of small servers in not so well optimized environments: for example if you have 128M of mem, you probably are located in a server with over 50 other sites.
Log in to your (Linux) server with ssh and write:
top
It should look something like this:
top - 20:09:17 up 2 days, 2:42, 1 user, load average: 0.00, 0.01, 0.00
Tasks: 71 total, 1 running, 70 sleeping, 0 stopped, 0 zombie
Cpu(s): 0.0%us, 0.0%sy, 0.0%ni,100.0%id, 0.0%wa, 0.0%hi, 0.0%si, 0.0%st
Mem: 4132384k total, 3902856k used, 229528k free, 21304k buffers
Swap: 6144852k total, 7256k used, 6137596k free, 906252k cached
Process list is in here..
"Load average" tells how much you are using CPU time that is allocated to you. All values should stay under 1 in most of the time.
There is also a list of processes, which tells you which of them are using the most CPU time. Try to load a forum page and look if mysql or apache is in the top of the list..?
Could you also provide some info from your site: I'm most interested in what are your memory limits.

We are using Rochen and it is not cheap - lol. But they are fantastic and offer super support. I might submit a ticket to them because I am a bit lost by what @Matias just said. I really appreciate your time and help!

You probably don't even have access to SSH in.

Ok, so we have made some adjustments, the rest of the site is now fast, but the forums are still very slow. Something must be going on with the forum. I am wondering if it is the template that was applied, but am not sure how to test that.
What else could it be, why would it be so slow?
Thanks for your help!
