Yes, I've seen that; I installed 1.6 on my desktop box to play with. HOORAAY! Thanks for listening
Can't wait until 1.6 reaches late beta...

Further on this general topic of notification by e-mail of new messages, I noticed that there is a new plugin that has recently been added to the JED called
MailAlert extensions for Kunena
.
I don't know anything more about this new product apart from what I have read at the JED and the developer's website, but it might be interesting if anyone has tried this product and their experience with it. If you're looking for a summary/digest of what's happened at your forum over, say, the past day/week/month then this product might have some value to you. I can't say because I haven't tried it.

Hi there,
We are new to this, but we suspect another solution for people who want to offer their users subscriptions to all new topics that might work is to use the email subscriptions feature of through Feedburner. Just burn the main forum feed, enable email subscriptions for the feed and then put an appropriate subscription module onto the forum page.
Thank you for the great work!

Hi all,
It is great to see the development in Kunena, thanks a lot to the team! I am especially happy about the "subscribe to category" and now also the "auto-subscribe" (will that be in the beta already?) functionality.
One question related to that:
If I understand correctly, subscription to a category does NOT subscribe to anything in a sub-category within this category, correct?
Is there a way to have this choice, either via configuration (inherit subscription from parent) or via button "subscribe to this and all sub-categories"?
Many thanks and best regards,
Erik

G'day, erik, and welcome to Kunena.
The existence of subcategories has never implied the inheritance of all hehavioural properties of their parent categories. For example, a parent category can be unlocked but its subcategories could be locked; a parent category might require messages to be reviewed before they're published but its subcategories might not.
This "inheritance of subscription" behaviour will not change for K 1.6.
This sounds about right. You can subscribe/unsubscribe discrete categories but, in K 1.6, you have to explicitly select each category you want to subscribe to (including subcategories of categories that you have already subscribed to) and that's just the way it's been designed.ejw wrote: If I understand correctly, subscription to a category does NOT subscribe to anything in a sub-category within this category, correct?
