Kunena 7.0.4 Released
The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 7.0.4 [K 7.0.4] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.4.x/6.0.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 / K 6.4 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 7.0
Sticky How to move, copy or merge my old Kunena forums from one site to another
I've got a Joomla 1.5.26 site with Kunena 1.7.0 and I am upgrading to J3.2.1 and of course the latest Kunena version.
My question is how should I go about the Kunena upgrade? I've tried SPUpgrade but it didn't work and I had many problems.
Any help or guidelines would be much appreciated.
Many thanks,
Chris.

This is a very good question. We recommend that you start by upgrading to K 2.0.4 on your existing J! 1.5.26 site and then you can tackle how to move the data from your old J! 1.5.26 site to your new J 3.2.1 site.I've got a Joomla 1.5.26 site with Kunena 1.7.0 and I am upgrading to J3.2.1 and of course the latest Kunena version.

Your question about how to move data from one site to another site has been asked many times before on this forum. You will find dozens of topics on these questions in the Miscellaneous, off-topic and general Joomla category. You will also find many tips about migrating from one version of Joomla to another version of Joomla if you search this forum and if you search the Joomla forum .
General guidelines:
1) Be realistic about how long this will take. Moving old data from one site to another site takes most of one day; adding all the nice cosmetic features to your new site can take you a week or more after you have copied the raw data.
2) Be prepared to accept that many extensions from your old site will not work in the new site - site template, components, modules, plugins - and you may have to compromise or accept that some things will not make the transition from the old to the new.
3) Be prepared for some headaches when it comes to implementing permissions: J! 1.5.26 did not have ACLs, remember?
4) AS far as Kunena is concerned, get as much of it "up-to-date" as far as you can go within J! 1.5.26 so that you are in the best position to move the Kunena database tables and forum attachments (files) from the old to the new.
Does this help?

I have a old Joomla 1.5.26 site with Kunena 1.6.1.
I have made a new site with Joomla 3.2 and installed the newest Kunena.
Is it possible for me to import the old forum files to the new forum?
Hope anyone can help me!
Thanks in advance.
Greetings,
Sondre

G'day, sskarli, and welcome to the forum.
I'm sorry that no-one else has replied to your question for a couple of days, so I have merged it into a bigger, general topic that should answer your questions.
The short answer to your main question ("Can it be done?") is yes. This is the kind of job I would love, if someone was paying me for my time to do it for them, because I could make a small fortune from doing this kind of work. But if this was my own website running J! 1.5.26 and K 1.6.1 I would probably forget about it and work on something that's a bit more "fun".
However, you asked for hints and that's what I will do for you. The general outline of the process is discussed in msg #4 of this merged topic.
This topic goes into many different case scenarios but I think, if you spend an hour or so looking at it, you will get the general idea. Please be aware that this topic started over two years ago. Some of the links may not work (or may point to non-existent pages). I hope this information will assist you ... and good luck (because you're going to need it)

and how should I do it, if I want to keep all my kunena forum information and put it on my new website, after deleting completely the old one. I am not transfering from one live website to another. I want to delete the whole existing joomla 1.5 website and re-do it again, but this time in joomla 3.x
