Kunena 7.0.4 Released

The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 7.0.4 [K 7.0.4] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.4.x/6.0.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 / K 6.4 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 7.0

This category contains miscellaneous, uncategorised third-party extensions (e.g. JomSocial, Community Builder, etc.) relating to older versions of Kunena that are no longer supported.

This category may also contain a few topics relating to K 1.6 that may have been moved here possibly by mistake.

The topics in this category are for historical interest only. Owing to the structural differences between K 1.6 and K 1.7, the ideas in these topics may not work with later versions and, for that reason, the topics are locked.

Question [Resolved] Guest Avatar Not Showing Up After Upgrade

After a lot more poking around, there is a difference if you select

Integration » Avatar Integration » Use avatar picture from = Community Builder
as opposed to
Integration » Avatar Integration » Use avatar picture from = Kunena

In the former case, guest posters have no avatars. In the latter case, guest posters have an avatar. This looks more likely to be a Kunena issue. Surprisingly, over six months after Kunena and Community Builder "came together", this has only now been detected!

Just to make sure we are seeing the same thing...

When I changed it to "Kunena", yes, there is now an avatar for the guests. However, all the avatars are the same (I'm guessing the standard avatar for those who don't have a photo).

Is this what you were seeing?

Of course! If you were using CB avatars, before you switched to a different source of avatar images, then very few (if any) people would have avatars, would they? ;)

The situation is different on your development site (where I posted a test reply). But I have no understanding of why.

Are you using different versions of Kunena on these two websites?

doh!

YES! The dev server is using Kunena 1.5.6 - I forgot that I went ahead and used the latest version when I finally got it upgraded on my live site...

So, is the problem something that may have occurred between K 1.5.6 and K 1.5.9, perhaps? How can we ascertain this? :S

And, perhaps from the developer's perspective, why? :side:

Hmmm... Not sure. Right now it's seeming to be either that or the GJ Extended Plugin, as those are the only differences I can think of right now. I should hopefully have the plugin installed in a couple of days, so maybe we can cross that off the list.

By the way, if there is ever an award for best moderator for a website, I am definitely nominating you!
