Kunena 7.0.4 Released
The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 7.0.4 [K 7.0.4] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.4.x/6.0.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 / K 6.4 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 7.0
This category contains miscellaneous, uncategorised third-party extensions (e.g. JomSocial, Community Builder, etc.) relating to older versions of Kunena that are no longer supported.
This category may also contain a few topics relating to K 1.6 that may have been moved here possibly by mistake.
The topics in this category are for historical interest only. Owing to the structural differences between K 1.6 and K 1.7, the ideas in these topics may not work with later versions and, for that reason, the topics are locked.

CB is not only the CB Team
It's a community project. Please feel free to contribute templates free or commercial (CB 1.2 has added a lot of templating possibilities, and commercial templates are appearing).
Please post your problems on the CB forum at www.joomlapolis.com/ so that we and community can address them.
I'm not aware of such a buggy behavior in the CB ProfileBook 1.2 RC (are you using the latest?), omg.... PMed you to be able to take a look at what's happening...and fix that quickly for the Stable release.
The blog and wall functions of CB ProfileBook 12 will be developed further to even simplifying them more while adding possibilities and flexibility.

Prilly, I know your frustrations believe me and your exactly right both have their benefits and downfalls. The thing you primarily need to look at is what offers the most features for you.
Keep in mind that both have open architecture so you can pretty much do whatever you want within some boundries. Both still have limitations but atleast your not restricted by Ioncube. I know your going to have problems and take a step back and also look that none of Joomla! is built to everyones needs so irregardless your going to have some customizations you will just HAVE to do.
My honest suggestion if you have some funds and don't have the skill to do the work yourself is look at highering a Freelancer to help you out. Its not always the most economical way to go hence the most of Joomla! is Open Source so most people using it really aren't looking to spend some money or not hundreds of dollars. It all adds up and depends on how tight you want your system, how user friendly and what your goal in the long run is... to make money or to not make money? I think you get what I am saying.
It sounds to me like you may just want a simple Wall/Profile Comment system? << Correct?
I don't have time to build it myself but I can point you in the right direction if you like to either build it yourself or maybe find another person to build it with you?
If this is an option I would look at Joomlapolis for the "Hello World Plugin" which is a blank plugin that displays just the text Hello World so its easy to see its construction and manipulate it to display other text and so forth.
Next I would look here: www.yensdesign.com/tutorials/shoutbox/ and here: yensdesign.com/2009/01/create-a-shoutbox...php-and-ajax-jquery/
Thats just one nifty little shoutbox system you could use as a wall if you wanted. There are plenty of others at www.ajaxrain.com which is a site I highly recommend to everyone.
Or you can contact my buddies at www.joomservices.com who can build virtually any Community Builder or JomSocial plugin your heart desigers.
You mentioned that you do not preffer the accordion effect like at JomSocial, what do you preffer? Can you show me an example of something you like? Maybe an image or a live preview.
Thanks,
James

Beat, I think he probably wants a complete Wyswig Editor or atleast something with more functionality than just the BB Code Editor that Profile Book offers. Maybe for users to be able to add pictures, video.. I am not sure he will have to answer that question.
However, thanks for stopping by the forums and dropping in on my post.
Thanks,
James

I like the simplicity of the Profile book features: they're just not working quite right.
I paid for custom code one time, which was outdated within weeks because the post office changed their system so my expensive code was worthless. So I don't like to go that route. I do a lot of minor code modifications, but if I can't do it myself..
I did post at the CB forum, too. I don't know if that forum is for support issues though. It seems to be mostly for announcements.

Cyndy, James & Beat,
Thanks for the great feedback! I really appreciate it. It give me some insight into what I am looking forward to. I am currently working on 2 social-based web sites. One if for a group of Beachbody coaches in an attempt to get them all to communicate with each other. So far, only a handful (out of 80) actually get on and do anything. So, I've not ran into any problems because so few do anything yet.
The other is a brand new site for my local church and it is a young church with the average age of 30 (just counting the adults). We are located in Fort Collins near Colorado State University so we have a lot of young people there. Even the older folks like myself (I'll be 50 this year... don't feel like it) are very high tech due to the influence of HP and Agilent. So with this site I'm expecting a lot of use and the church leaders are huge on using the latest technology but have not had anyone to champion their on-line efforts until now. They want to use the web site to extend their communication with the members of the church as well as visitors.
This really is fun. I hope to have more feedback for you soon on CB and Kunena together. I think they are both a great fit. I haven't tried Jomsocial yet but have looked at it. It looked a little too busy and confusing to me. Its very well liked among the more technical oriented but I agree with Cyndy, the more simple, the better for your normal person. BTW, I met Azrul in Denver last December and I think he's a neat guy. I also got to watch Beat via Web Conference (I think he could be a potential movie star -
) sharing the CB 1.2 features that were coming. Thank you for that Beat.
All of it fun and yet challenging. The things we're trying to do with the tools we have is amazing. I for one am not a true programmer but have done enough in the past to know what time-consuming work it can be. I really appreciate all you guys do and thanks so much!
God bless!
BW

Prilly, BW mentioned I called you a (he) if I did and your a women I apologize. I just get on that track of mostly talking to men here and don't want to offend anyone.
Your deffinitely right about outdated software... but here is a big thing I want you to take into consideration because its very important. If you focus on having the most current versions of software all the time your going to end up having a project that never gets completed because by the time you customize something to look/feel the way you want a new version/edition maybe released and its files may overwrite/null your modifications/hacks.
My suggestion would be to keep an eye on Changelogs and make monthly task to review your components updates and try and update key features. Otherwise in your hacks make BOLD easy to find COMMENTS so you can track them down quickly and easily. Otherwise there will be a lot of double working yourself.. I am still having to teach myself to do this and its a pain. I eventually just said you know what.. lets get Stable or close and go from there. Its just too hard to keep up with the 15 Component systems I use and make sure they are all the latest version... how can anyone do that and be successful?
Anyways.. I ramble.
