Thank you for clarifying the issue. If you look at the links contained in msg #1 in this topic, you will see that your problem relates to Mootools.

Although your problem involves J! 1.7 (and the articles referred to in msg #1 in this topic were mainly written for people who use J! 1.5), it's not impossible for certain Joomla extensions to install their own Javascript libraries that will clobber Joomla's Mootools library which is needed by Kunena to run. When we wrote those articles we expected that the incidence of these issues would, over time, gradually disappear as more people took to J! 1.6 and J! 1.7 because, by using these newer versions of Joomla, there would be less likelihood for people to be affected by using outdated or "special" Javascript libraries that cause the problems. Even though we expected the problems to disappear because developers of Joomla extensions would utilise the core functionality in the latest versions of Joomla, it appears (on the basis of your report) that these issues have " metastised " into J! 1.7. That is disturbing news!

However, the fact that this kind of software "cancer" seems to have spread into J! 1.7, the cause and the cure is still the same. The links contained in msg #1 of this topic contain the information you need to fix the problem. What will be useful for other members of the community to know is what Joomla extension(s) you have installed in J! 1.7 that is/are causing the problem so that others may be made aware of what they need to be careful about.

Perhaps your configuration report will assist.

In relation to your other question, you will find the answer by clicking the FAQs tab on the menu near the top of this page and read the recommendations covered in the section "Kunena menu issues". I hope that helps.

Also enabling debug mode helps in these cases to find out what could be wrong.
