Since I had a bit of trouble with this as well and this thread has five pages here is exactly, step by step, what I did for those who might need it:
Currently using - 1.7.3 Joomla with latest Kunena
1.) Login to Joomla Admin Control Panel
2.) Click on the "Menus" Tab at the top and select "Kunena Menu"
3.) Click on the menu item called "Forum"
4.) Look to the right and click on "Required Settings"
- It should expand and show "Default Menu Item *"
5.) Click on the drop down menu and click "Index" or whichever you want to be the default.
6.) Save & Close
The names of the items might vary if you've changed them, but that's the general idea.

Running versions:
kunena 1.7.2
Joomla! 1.5.23
I read a prior post in the common questions of this forum, but it must be outdated as the reply did not work for me.
How do I set Kunena for forum to open with the index as default?
[strike]How can I set it for "forum statistics" section not to show in the front-end, **whether the user is registered or not** ?[/strike]

Please. One question per topic, please. Please also look at what category you are posting in and read the category descriptions on the
Index
page.
These are commonly-asked questions. It helps if you search the forum for the answers and to read the FAQs (see the menu item above the forum).
I have merged your topic with another one that has the answer to your question.

I was thinking about the default menu opening in my kunena forum. I whould like to open the index menu at users first access. I don't find the settings. Please whould you like to tell me the slide settings to analyze to find that setting? Thanks.
