There are two questions here:

(1) How to implement SEO. This is answered in msg #2 of this topic.

(2) How to make sure that the forum buttons do what they're supposed to do when you have SEO enabled: This is dealt with by making sure that you've properly setup your Kunena menu. See How do I restore my Kunena menu?

Replied by stevetyler on topic SEO friendly URL's
I cannot seem to get this to work. I see an option on the FORUM CONFIGURATION to say "YES" to SEO friendly URL's and to say yes to not showing category id's etc. yet I still get ridiculous urls like www.domain.com/index=catid54etc.etc.etc

I want my forum to be simple like www.domain.com/forum/category/topic title

How can I get this to work?

I cannot find where to edit the options for:

# Use Apache mod_rewrite: Yes
# Add suffix to URLs: No

Where will I find where to change these?

Ok, found them in Global settings.

I have no idea about htaccess etc. - Is it as simple as changing the file name as suggested or do I need to have some programming knowledge to get these SEO-friendly URL's working?

I have made all the changes other than mucking around with the Apache/htaccess for now. It now seems to go to a SEO friendly URL but the pages are not located, i.e. clicking the forum button now takes me to a dead page (but the URL looks much better!!). Is this what needs to be address in the httaccess?
