Question Mail not working 1.5.7

mibnbikes: Matias and I spent a lot of time last night (my time) discussing this long-standing issue. There are several things that could possibly be involved but, without going into specific details, most of these relate to the PHP mail configuration. Your case is most unusual. In fact, it's unusual to the point of being unique.

This is the screenshot from one of my sites where I have Kunena installed and where I do not have any mail problems.



Your problem may be allied to your webhost; your problem may be a PHP issue. We haven't forgotten you and we'd very much like to get to the heart of the matter. One possibility that you should consider is the need to move your site to a different webhost - it's a possibility, not an inevitability. :dry:

first of all, many thanks for all your support and help, it is great.

I have myself been thinking that this might be host related problem and changing host is not that far away.

My host runs with PHP safe mode on, could this be the problem??

Please go to Kunena Configuration » Basics » Basic Settings » Board E-mail Address. Change the email address to the same as you used when you created your Joomla website. Check to see if this solves your "Cannot instantiate mail function" issue. We think that it will.

I have been testing K 1.5.11 on a test site where my Board E-mail Address was untouched (i.e. "[email protected]"). I received e-mails to subscribed topics. I did not get "Cannot instantiate mail function."
