Thank you for directing this to the development team. I host with HostMonster and thus far I have had an excellent time with them. So I don't want to switch and it'd be quite a chore to switch because the site is very big.

Do you think synchronizing may be the issue? I have not synchronized users with Community Builder yet. Or settings in the Builder itself?

Thanks again for your help. :)

The Kunena Synchronize Users facility ensures that the Kunena user table is in-synch with the Joomla user table.

The Community Builder facility ensure that the CB user table is in-synch with the Joomla user table.

Neither of these things should have any effect on the problem but there's no harm in trying.

What would be good to know is how mibnbikes eventually resolved his problem.

Changing webhosts is a rather drastic step and we wouldn't advise it except as a last resort. There must be a straightforward solution to this problem. I have been in contact with the development team on this case and we're trying to find an answer.

At this time I don't have an answer for you.

I remember fixing a lot of email issues for Kunena 1.6. Most of them were backported to Kunena 1.5.12, but there's very slight change that something which got fixed didn't make it back to the older version.

So just in case, I would make copy of your site and try to reproduce the issue with latest 1.6RC.

Thanks, Matias. You mean install the 1.6 on top of 1.5.12? I am not very technical so I really don't want to mess with the site. And I don't know how to make a copy of it.

If I install 1.6, what can go wrong? If only the forum, I can live with that. But if the rest of the site goes haywire, then I'd rather not. :(

Matias' idea was only a suggestion. To he totally honest with you, these "email issues" were a real headache with K 1.5.x and we've done just about everything that we can possibly conceive. Ultimately there may be specific issues that affect some users that don't affect the majority of users. These can involve all kinds of different issues, from PHP configuration, SMTP mail server setup, and some matters that only your webhosting provider knows how to deal with. In the majority of cases, users do not have email problems. Yours is an exception to the general rule.

Yes, it may be true that you don't have other email problems with other Joomla extensions; problems that only seem to affect Kunena. Yes, it may also be true that a small minority of users are in the same situation. It's almost impossible without delving into these specific problems, working closely with you, with others, with your webhosting provider and with other webhosting providers that may shed light on why these things seem to happen ... and we might not always be able to resolve every possible combination of whatever runs on your site (or on other sites that exhibit the same issues).

It may be possible that K 1.6 is a solution but sometimes there isn't a "silver bullet" solution, either. Wouldn't it be nice if everyone worked exactly the same way? Unfortunately, that's not the reality that we're dealing with.

For the purposes of this discussion, let's remain focused on K 1.5. If you want to discuss K 1.6 and your concerns about upgrading, that's a matter for a different discussion topic.

Not very helpful, I know, but that's about all I can think of at this time. We would like to be able to say that we know how to solve your problem but sometimes, when things like this come along, we have to say sorry, we don't know what to do next. :(

Matias and Sozzled, I keep thinking that maybe I didn't do something right? If I give you access to the back end, can you look? Although I am not sure you'd be able to understand -- the whole back end is in Russian...
