I would also suggest that you use K 3.0.5 instead of K 3.0.4. I hope this helps.

had an email today, hostgator jus updated my php version, don't know if this will help

I do not know if the reason that you are having problems with installing Joomla extensions (such as Kunena) is directly related to the version of PHP on your website or not.
