Sadly, the paranoid owner hasn't given me access to the server's control panel.
I was wondering, if I uninstall Kuena, do I loose all the data in the tables? If not, I can try to uninstall the component and reinstall it, but I don't want to loose the data.
Regards
David
Glad to hear you got it sorted out.
If you did uninstall Kunena, the database will remain intact, so the data will not be lost.

What is funny: I have 6 sites on one SERVER sharing the same MySQL rack --
and 4 out of 6 of them report when there is a Kunena update available...
and 2 do not.
No accounting for it.
Good work Kunena team!

Good work Kunena team!
Just did another Kunena update one of my fussier installs --
AND WOW! What an ordeal. Needed to uninstall the INSTALL directory, clear the cache a couple of times AND THEN restore from a back up -- AND THEN the thing went into the install loop and finally after about 12 - 15 INSTALL circuits, it stuck...
PHEW that was stressful!

Experiencing more of the same troubles on my Test server --
Installation Loop.... over and over again...
Cleared caches... delete install folder in /admin dir
Try install again...
No luck --
Totally scared to attempt updates on any of my production servers.

I write this often: if people would like our help (and we're only too willing to offer our advice) it helps if people look at the FAQs page at some time or another. I am not saying that the FAQs page has the answers but there is information there that may be useful in cases where we're left guessing as to the cause of problems that people may have.
So, for your benefit and for the benefit of others reading this topic who are scratching their heads so that they can make a positive contribution to it, I have done two things:
1) Moved this topic from the archive, and
2) I suggest that the following general information may be relevant in this case:
If you are having problems then, for your own benefit, it would save us all a lot of time if you would kindly post your configuration report when you ask for help from this forum. If you do not post your configuration report we will not ask you for it but you will probably not get your problem solved, either.

I am now going to find out how to generate the configuration report --
I have seen this term used -- and I am more than eager to comply to help
others fix their problems.
I am a Kunena user since day 1.
