Question User subscriptions and forum performance

It wasn't a bug. I have been talking with another member of the team who removed my previous message to you because he thought it was offensive. I hope that you did not feel that I have acted, in any way, discourteously towards you. I have tried my very best to provide you with all the help that I can. So, in the instance you mentioned - the fact that my message had been removed until I restored it again today - this was my problem! :laugh:

I honestly hate coming here for advice because of your belittling responses. I'm a very calm person and try to provide as much info as possible without getting flamed, which seems is typical in a forum environment. I don't treat my members on my forum like that. My members are like family to me. I love helping them and if don't know the answer, I ask others to chime in and help. That's what a forum is about. Everyone starts somewhere with something. No one is born with knowledge, they learn it along the way.

I have no idea what just happened. I'm sorry that you weren't able to find answer to your issues and I'm sorry that the topic got sidetracked like it did.

I've read the topic through and it looks like you were about to solve (or were able to partly solve) the slow posting times right away in the first page of this topic. The issue on slow posting likely relates to the number of subscribers in the topic -- and the fact that almost all email relays only allow at most 100 emails (usually less) to be sent per second. This means that the posting task stops on waiting emails to be sent, which makes the action to take ages.

To me it looks like this setting had already been enabled, which would normally solve the issue:

E-mail to Multiple Recipients: If value > 1, send a single subscription e-mail to multiple recipients. Using relatively large value prevents your site from sending too many e-mails if your web host limits the amount of e-mails per second or per hour. Larger value also improves performance as less e-mails needs to be sent.

This setting needs to be somewhere between 50 and 100 (which is the upper limit for Google -- other systems may have lower limits). If the users can get emails, lower setting would not help but only makes the page load slower.

The following two settings are also very important to be set properly, first one because of the privacy of the users and the second one because of every email needs to have visible recipient (TO) or it may be considered as a spam. I cannot see the email in the configuration report, but I do know that not having it shouldn't decrade performance.

To me it looks like all of this has already been set up, but the performance is still below the expectations.

I do not think that template has anything to do with this issue, but at the same time I'm also out of ideas what might be causing the issue.
