Kunena 7.0.4 Released
The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 7.0.4 [K 7.0.4] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.4.x/6.0.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 / K 6.4 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 7.0
Solved Allow only specified users to view/post (private part of forum)
G'day, QuakeLive, and welcome to Kunena.
(1) It is possible to create "private" categories (and sub-categories) within your forum so that only users that you allow will be able to view the topics and post messages in them. This topic explains how to set up "private" categories.
(2) if you define these private categories so that only specific types of accounts can view the list of topics then other users will not even be be aware that such categories exist. In other words, if you have categories that are only accessible to certain uses, other users will not know that there are private categories/sub-categories within your forum; other users will definitely not be able to see a index of topics or the details of messages posted within those topics.
I hope this helps to explain how "private" categories work.

Thank you very much for response!
So, if I understood well - it is NOT possible to have such categories that are visible to all visitors, but only specified users can see what's inside (can see topics and can post there)?other users will not even be be aware that such categories exist. Again, thanks!

"Private" means private; "secret" if you like.

In the end, bie ere, it is not completely possible to achieve the complete solution that you are looking for but I reapt what I wrote to you before:

Btw, I've never used Kunena before, and this is by far the best free extension that I used.

I'm trying to create a category that is invisible to the rest of the (registered) users on my forum. But whatever I try, I can't hide the category away..

I'm using Kunena 2.0.4 on Joomla 2.5.9.
I have first tried to use an Access Level. I created one specifically for this purpose, and although im not a member of this Access Level, I can still see the category from the forntend. (I can't create postings though, so that works)
Then I've tried to alter the Access Control Type settings to a specific user group. But even when I create a specific user group for this purpose, I keep getting the same issue:
I can not make postings or reply to postings, but i can see the category.
Could someone give me a hint on how to hide the category away at all?
Oh, and one last remarkable thing:
When i restrict viewing access to the category that I want to hide away, it is not visible until I'm logged in.

I re-did your tutorial step-by-step. The forum category is nicely hidden away for non-registered visitors.
But as soon as a registered user logs in the category shows up, even if the user is not a member of the specially created user group (just as in your tutorial).
I hope you can give me a further hint.
