Question E-mail notification to Moderator?

Okay, thanks I'll give it some thought and act accordingly

Oky, after doing quite a bit of trail and error stuff I've realised that I don't think I've fully understood the configurations properly!

S first of all, hands up, on the fact that:

a) I didn't realise that every individual forum had to be set to 'review posts' and have it's own 'moderators' - I thought the category setting affected all forums in that category. (school boy error, I know!)
b) Then after more poking aound, I realised that my username settings (as moderator) were not highlighted to affect all of my forums.

So now I am receiving post notification e-mails successfully - yipee!

Anyway, hopefully this will help other novices like me not to make the same oversights.

Having confessed to those things, I still do seem to have problems with teh basic configuration pages:

a) I still can't make the forums viewed by all (although I don't need to, so can live wit that).
b) another thing I would like to do is disable the 'show who's online' plugin, but that doesn't seem to work - nor do some of teh others like 'show stats'.

But all in all, I'm in a lot better position

Actually, I'm really pleased that you sorted nearly everything out.

I'm probably teaching my grandmother to suck eggs, but the most important thing to remember, when you're testing something out, is make one change at a time and exhaustively test the consequences of that change. If you had realised that you were getting email notificiations in one forum category, but not another, then you could have compared the two to see what might need to be changed. As you may now appreciate, all that I was trying to establish was to prove we could make one thing work without necessarily cure all the other problems.

Now that we've dealt with the "e-mail notification to moderator" matter, I suggest that you start a two new threads: one for the "how to I make forums viewed by all" (although it's probably been answered a million times before) and, one for "how do I disable who's online?", that's a new subject. Please look at the posting guidelines : one problem per subject.

I'm not aware that there's a simple setting to achieve what I think you want to achieve about disabing the "who is online" indicator. Users can deactivate this on a per-user basis. You might like to create a new discussion topic on that subject, too.
