Question Quick Reply still does not work even with CB1.2.1

Hi there,

I have upgraded to CB1.2.1 and Kunena 1.0.10 with Joomla 1.0.15.
Looking into this forum, I found that the quick reply function does not work without installing CB1.2.1.

However, I have installed CB1.2.1 but still Quick Reply does not work.

Any advise would be most welcome.

Because, the Quick Reply function requires Javascipt and, unless you install CB 1.2.1 and publish the cbsimpleboardtab plugin, most of Kunena's (k 1.0.10) calls to Javascript are clobbered ... that's why. Where have you been, GM? :laugh:

I don't use CB. Haven't for a long time. Just for the reason that, for what seemed like years, the devs over there sat on their asses while the Joomla world passed them by. Putting out slow to non-existent releases-similar to how FireBoard was handled. Let's not even mention how dismal their extension looked (Word of advice? Hire a real designer). Now that JomSocial and some other extensions arrive on the scene to offer Joomla users that long needed choice they want to start developing again in earnest and partner up with the Kunena devs to leverage the large userbase both of them have. Please. They're still running JoomlaBoard on their own site. So what does that tell you? So yeah. My knowledge of CB is fairly limited.

I have installed CB1.2.1 and published the cbsimpleboardtab plugin. But still the problem persists.

Any advise?

From the sounds of things, you have a conflict somewhere - what it is, I don't know - and so it's going to take some effort on your part to pin it down. My personal opinion is that K 1.0.10 is worth every bit of the effort to get working, even if that means that you have to compromise other features of your website.

You could give us more details (such as what version of Joomla you're running, Joomla template, Kunena template, etc., etc.) but I have this suspicion that the manifestation of the "problem" is caused by an external component. You've already mentioned that you had problems with Artio JoomSEF. Are these other components essential to your requirements? Do you expect cyber-Armageddon if you disabled them? What other components do you have installed?

In order to treat the problems you're having with Kunena, I would suggest that you disable other, third-party extensions to see that overcomes the symptoms you're experiencing. If it does then, one by one, re-enable the other add-ons to see when the symptoms reoccur. Please report your findings back here. Good luck
