Yes. But I am just reporting what was said by the developer.

We love stars on the Joomla Extension Directory . :-)

It's much easier to diff your own template against default_ex 1.0.9 and then apply all your changes to K1.0.10. It's probably less work and you don't miss any important change in K1.0.10.

What comes to K1.0, there will not be any major change after this. This is because if we will release another version from K1.0, it will only be a small security fix release & removal of the warnings and few regression bugs.

But what comes to template changes in general: You must redo your templates first for K1.5 and later for future versions (MVC). I have tools to automate most of the conversion from K1.0.10 to K1.5.2, but some manual work is needed. How much, I haven't investigated yet.

I'm using k1.0.9 with a modified default template, (Not Default_Ex) will it be compatible with k1.0.10 or will I too have to modify a new template from scratch?

There is a very high likelihood that your modified template will be incompatible with, and cause problems for, Kunena 1.0.10; however, the likelihood is not a 100% certainty. The "templating" issue may be a show-stopper for some people moving to K 1.0.10; on the other side of the coin, there were enough defects in earlier versions of Kunena to make the choice to upgrade a simple one.

I honestly can't justify a reason to make a move to 1.0.10 as I have not had any issues or problems at all with 1.0.9. I have an active member base of nearly 2700+ and not one member has had an issue with the current release I have installed. Therefore, I may be better off waiting till there is a release with significant changes and added functionality, or features.

Btw, I did try to just use the template I modified... as expected it was a no go! seems there are serious changes to the templates from 1.0.9 -> 1.0.10.

There are many fixes ... Moderator Tool or BBCode are improved....

Thats also why you cant take your old template..but when you only changed the css file and the images you can copy all php files from default_ex 1.0.10 and it should work.
