Kunena 7.0.4 Released
The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 7.0.4 [K 7.0.4] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.4.x/6.0.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 / K 6.4 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 7.0

Is this a manual installation method you are referring to? I am unable to adjust the timeout and have tried installing from a directory. My next option may be to install manually but I do not know how. Thanks,

No it's not manual. There is three choices how to install a component:
* by uploading it into your site from your own computer (very slow, do not use this)
* by uploading the file from URL (give link to the file)
* by running it from a local directory
First one is the slowest and the last one fastest. If you're using the first option, please try the others, too.

yes, ask joomla team for a better installation for 1.9.1 
first, edit your php.ini (or ask your ISP for it) and modify timeout to 120
use some of the other install options matias said (2nd or 3rd)
Use joomlapack to make a backup of your site, put in on a local test server, install kunena, pack again, and install on your live server
