I do not understand what you are talking about. We are discussing the fundamental point that the Kunena configuration and category manager settings do not work in the same way with the two currently supported templates for K 4.0.

I think it is pointless discussing irrelevancies like "new features", things that may have happened 6 years ago, or "third-party" templates. This discussion is again going off-topic and fails to address the problem. The reality is that 9 out of 10 people today do not use Crypsis. The realiity is that people hope to obtain meaningful answers to their questions. The reality is that people are extremely worried because they do not, or cannot, use Crypsis.

Returning to the topic,

Until the developers admit that the failure to address a longstanding issue - an issue that began more than 6 months ago when Google changed their CAPTCHA API (and Joomla V 3.4 implemented reCAPTCHA V2) - this discussion will get nowhere.

I will try to find where Blue Eagle uses the reCAPTCHA settings and I will publish my findings in due course.

This is not an entirely true statement.

I have been testing CAPTCHA issue further and it seems that the issue extends beyond the Kunena forum component. The component configuration settings also determine how the Kunena Discuss plugin works as well.

As we see, in the topic New reCaptcha? ,

That statement was made on 3 March this year, three months before the release of K 4.0. There has been no further word on that subject since then. As we can see, from the topic I have just referred to, the discussion about Google's reCAPTCHA v2 is not new.

I want to make two points:

1) There is no explanation in the Kunena Configuration settings about how the CAPTCHA keys are supposed to work, why they need to be entered there (and not, instead, in the Joomla Captcha - ReCaptcha plugin settings), and the fact that these settings have (a) no effect on Crypsis, (b) only affect Blue Eagle and (c) are required for the Kunena Discuss module.

2) The behaviour between the Kunena component is inconsistent with other Joomla extensions (including the Joomla user registration component) that people use on their websites. The Kunena component uses Joomla Captcha - ReCaptcha plugin settings (and this statement is only half-true); the Kunena Discuss module uses the Kunena Configuration settings.

I see that the Wiki has been updated with some information about how to use reCAPTCHA with the K 4.0 component.

Unfortunately, these instructions do not apply to the Kunena Discuss plugin that still uses Google's reCAPTCHA v1 (even if people are using the Crypsis template in the forum).

A new release of kunena discuss plugin is planned with only the support of Joomla! recaptcha.

I don't provide support by PM, because this can be useful for someone else.

As we have discovered , only in the last 48 hours , there is a new version of Kunena Discuss .

If it was relatively straightforward to modify the Kunena Discuss plugin to allow the use of Google's reCAPTCHA v2, why is it so difficult to extend the same functionality to the Kunena component?

To be completely candid here, I do not think the explanation that has been offered is comfortable with the community of Kunena users who expect better.

I notice that there has been no feedback from the developers on this issue.

Yes, the Kunena Discuss 3.1 plugin uses Joomla's Captcha - ReCaptcha plugin settings.

But this is a "tale of two Kunenas" as far as the component is concerned.

  1. Kunena HMVC (Crypsis) variant uses Joomla's Captcha - ReCaptcha plugin settings

  2. Kunena non-HMVC (Blue Eagle) variant does not use Joomla's Captcha - ReCaptcha plugin settings

The question that remains to be answered is: why?
