I have turned off caching in the Kunena settings, but notice no difference.

I'm unaware of other caching processes. Will ask my providor.

I think I found the problem. I told you that it concerned a test-site. Well I have a category 'testing the website' and the rights for access were for registered and moderators only.
That was exactly my goal; logged as a quest one would not see this category. Logging as a moderator one had access.
So far so good.
The result however is that RSS feeds and e-mail notifications were not made, so I have come to the conclusion that the RSSfeeds only work if the setting is 'Public' access.

Is my conclusion correct and if so, is this noted as a bug.

That's right, rss feeds sends only from public categories. In the rss feed, there is no way to identify. which user has accessed to the page. Everyone could read it if he knows the address of rss feed. That's not a bug it's a security feature.

Important! Always create a backup before you make any changes to your website!

I completely overlooked the security feature! I was too much focussed on the issue that it didn't work (like in 3.03) Thanks
