Hi there,

I needed to migrate our internal Phpbb3 knowledgebase board for a external site i am uild for out Partners and i wasn't happy with the current Bridges only being in beta stage. so i went with FireBoard.

I've attached a convert that i got from BOJ forums a while back and that had a few erroes in there, but i was able to fix. It seems to have worked pretty well for my needs. with only a little changes required at the FB side.. some to do with the BBCODES, but i added theses into the convert as i spotted them.

What this wont do is migrate the Moderators of each forums correctly, or touch PM's, or push all the User Personal fields.

Im sure there some smarter people that can do this.

Also I set all users to REGISTERED by default and all BOTS (type 2's) users are not added to Joomla users list.

I didn't write this, i just hacked it enough that it got the POST's/Forums and USERS across into Joomla.

Basically it converts to fireboard 1.5RC2 and then i assume there an extra convert
that can convert from FB to Kunena.

To run, edit the MySQL details in convert.php file and to try the convertion run phpbb3_to_fb.php

Also our board was pretty small.. so i dont really know how this will handle lots of users/posts.

I hope its works for others.

Cheers

Kaz

Hey,

Is there any good soul that could make phpbb migration step by step guide. For someone who knows how to do this, it would take like 2 minutes. I am not advanced user but i managed to find way through but migrations are givin me headache. Pls, if someone migrated, pls make a small guide on how to do it.

My problem is, i got 2 databases. In one i got joomla 1.13 with all _phpbb tables, and when i was migrating i made another database, new one, where i will store all my new joomla files. I succesfully migrated to latest joomla version and now i need to transfer my forum, get rid of phpbb and install new Kunena with categories, topics and posts.

Important, i used Community builder with CB connector, so all my users passwords and usernames are the same, i got around 16k posts and 200 users. How difficult this will be, is it possible to it, and will someone help me? :)

Thread about phpbb migration is dead for 7 days, so i must open one to point to this.

Thanx in advance. For help i offer some of my services in return, i ll write detailed translation of forum to croatian, anything... This is the last thing on my ToDo list.

Please. Do not start a new topic because you feel no one is responding to the old one. If someone is able to help they will.
I went ahead and merged your post.

We love stars on the Joomla Extension Directory . :-)

I download this and i think i figured it out.

What i need to do is next:

Export phpbb tables from my old database to my new database where i will install Fireboard

Then i must run this script

And then upgrade Fireboard to Kunena 1.0.8

Is that it?
