Kunena 7.0.9 & Kunena 6.4.14 – Security Updates Released

The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 7.0.9 [K 7.0.9] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.4.x/6.0.x./6.1.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 / K 6.4 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 7.0

For the collation utf8mb4_xxx is correct

I have tried on MariaDB 11.8.9, the updgrade from K7.0.9 to K7.1.0 there are has been no errors and the table #__kunena_notifications_mailsqueue has been right created

I have removed the step ALPHA1 and moved it in BETA1 : update.kunena.org/nightlybuilds/pkg_kune...DEV_2026-09-19_2.zip

I’ve made another attempt because I read online that, from version 11.4.2 onwards, MariaDB has changed the default collation from `unicode.ci` to `uca1400_ai_ci`.
 I set up a test version of Kunena 7.0.9 and changed the entire collation in the database to `utf8mb4_uca1400_ai_ci`.
 I then installed Kunena 7.1 BETA4-DEV_2026-09-19.

In the database, the table `__kunena_notifications_mailsqueue` was created, but with the collation set to `unicode_ci`
 I then repeated the same test, but this time without changing the collation in Kunena 7.0.9, and on this occasion the table `__kunena_notifications_mailsqueue` was not created in the database.
 Strange!
 Incidentally, database error messages were present in both tests.
 I’ll test again straight away with 7.1 BETA4-DEV_2026-09-20.
