As far as abuse goes, allowing delete can be but often isn't abused because of the quote button. Even if a user tries to hit and run they will often be caught ... but then quotes can be edited. I agree that deleting before anyone responds should be fine but I don't even want edit to work after responses in most cases so that forum integrity is maintained.

I do think my post proves I really don't know what I want and can go with pro or con on this one o.O

I love it! This flexibility is ideal. As you say, you never know what purpose a forum will have.

Sincerely,

If this function is ever implemented it need to have a way of being disabled as for alot of sites users being able to delete posts will not be a good idea.

Applying options to individual forums is always good or at least to categories. I see both sides here in the reason behind keeping posts and allowing users to delete posts. However, there are some cases where administrators have two separate kinds of categories. For example, an administrator might have a General Discussions section of their forum, which does not have to necessarily follow a format. Or, an administrator might have a more Focused Discussion that will require a good history of the content posted previously.

There are usually few different categories for different purposes on the same site.

In a normal forum the posting user can delete his own post, but I can not find that feature in Kunena.

Only moderator can delete posts? Is that the only way to delete posts?
