Kunena 7.0.4 Released

The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 7.0.4 [K 7.0.4] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.4.x/6.0.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 / K 6.4 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 7.0

This category contains miscellaneous, uncategorised third-party extensions (e.g. JomSocial, Community Builder, etc.) relating to older versions of Kunena that are no longer supported.

This category may also contain a few topics relating to K 1.6 that may have been moved here possibly by mistake.

The topics in this category are for historical interest only. Owing to the structural differences between K 1.6 and K 1.7, the ideas in these topics may not work with later versions and, for that reason, the topics are locked.

Question Forum Tab doesn't appear in CB 1.2.1

Hi everyone,

I encoutered a problem by trying do integrate Kunena 1.0.10 Forum Settings into Community Builder 1.2.1. Here is what I've done so far:

I activated the plugin "Forum Integration" in the CB Plugin Manager with the following settings:

- Forum component: Kunena
- Display Settings: Beginner
- Display statistics : In User Profile

When I go to the Tab Manager to activate the tab I find... nothing! I know that I have to activate the tab named "Forum" but there is none!

It could be that I deleted it and so I tried to install the "CB Plugin Kunena Tab" (though I suppose, that the plugin normally should be integrated in CB 1.2.1). After the installation of the plugin, I manage to get the Forum Tab working in CB Profile, but when I go to "Edit Profile" in CB there also should be a "Forum Tab" where I can change my signature and Forum Settings, isn't it so? And this tab is still missing!

Can someone help me? Would it be better to reinstall Kunena (perhaps it was wrong to install CB 1.2.1 after Kunena?), but can I reinstall Kunena without losing all the topics and posts that where created until now?

Thanks in advance!

First of all, Community Builder was designed and constructed independently of Kunena. Although there was consultation between the two development teams, the products are installed differently and managed differently. The products can be operated independently of one another. There are issues - they're not problems - that only occur when you decide to use both of them at the same time.

Community Builder was developed and is supported by Joomlapolis . Technically if you have any problems with CB you should ask the folks there. However, because there are many users of Kunena who use their product, we've got one or two ideas ... but we don't have the final word on the subject. It would be nice if Joomlaopolis provided their users with a user guide on how to use their product with Kunena. In the meantime you can browse these forums for your answers if you look in the Community Builder category . You will probably find a similar set of questions and answers at Joomlapolis. Inevitably, you will discover that all of your questions have been asked more than a dozen times and they have been answered, if you search the forums. :)

Specifically, see How to setup the cbsimpleboardtab plugin . This is the number one most sought-after answer. Why the question is asked here (and not at Joomlapolis) is a mystery to me.

You cannot easily delete the cbsimpleboardtab (also known as the Forum Integration tab) plugin just as you can't install it separately because it's a core component of Community Builder.

Yes, there should be a "forum" tab (as long as you've correctly configured the Forum Integration plugin). I don't know how you've "lost" it. Who knows ... and does it really matter, anyway? If you've got a problem locating the function, it's a problem with your installation of CB. Have you considered re-installing CB 1.2.1?

It doesn't matter whether you install Kunena before or after Community Builder. This is the second, most-asked question here. See this discussion as just one example! :)

You don't need to uninstall Kunena but even if you did you wouldn't lose all your messages. Your problem doesn't lie with Kunena.

I hope some of this information helps. Be patient and stay cool, that's the best advice. B)

Hey sozzled!

First of all, thanks for your help. But I've already done a minitious research in this forum, as well as in the Kunena Forum (including all the links that you provided in your post!). The Problem is not that the plugin "Forum integration" itself is missing, but the tab "Forum" is missing!

The settings in of cbsimpleboardtab-plugin also have to be correct, as I can see the rank and the karma, which are next to the Profile Picture. It is the tab that missing. I also found out, that there are no fields in the CB Field Manager for the forum settings and signature, but only for rankings, post and karma.

What might be the fault? I don't think that I deleted all those things by accident. Or is it really the best solution to reinstall CB 1.2.1?

Thanks in advance!

EDIT:I'm really getting annoyed... I reinstalled CB 1.2.1 but the tabs all remained the same (even before I restored the ue_config.php). And that means of course: The Forum Tab is still missing! I search a solution since 3 days, what might this be??!!

I remember back in the bad old days of CB 1.2, I was so frustrated by the whole mess, I disabled the tab that you're referring to. When I upgraded to CB 1.2.1 the tab became visible again. I don't know how it happened.

What do the folks at Joomlapolis say you're supposed to do?

In the meantime, I'll have a search around to see if I can disable what is already enabled.

Cheers

sozz :)

When you think it can be easily explained ... there's more!. This is a partial screen snapshot of my CB Tab Manager. You will see that I have not one, but two items relating to integration withe Kunena forum.

You will see that I've unpublished the first of those two items - which is what I did back in the old CB 1.2 days. Only the second item is published. If you were to publish both of these these you would have two tabs!

As far as I can tell, both these tabs seem to perform the same function. You can have a spare one of mine, if you like! :P

But seriously, the new cbsimpleboardtab plugin that comes with CB 1.2.1 provides two facilities:
  1. The ability to see what forum posts that a member has submitted; and
  2. The ability for a registered user to edit their preference for message ordering and signature (there's also the means to change the preference for "flat" vs "threaded" view, but this isn't supported in the current version of Kunena)
Now I don't know what your CB Tab Manager looks like, and I've always found that adding a new tab in Community Builder is a black art (so I don't know what you've done to clobber the way things normally/automagically work) but it might help if we could see what you can see (or can't see).
