Question Fresh install of 1.6.1 failing -- code is showing

I just had bzip2 and zip enabled on my server, and it doesn't seem to help. I'm still getting the error.

Having the same problem as you and my screen looks the same as your screenshots.

Are you using Joomla 1.6 RC1 by any chance?

The Kunena installation checkllist says that English (US) is a requirement. Joomla 1.6 RC1(and all the betas too, I believe)has no US language pack available and it's not included in the install. The installation script gives you the option to install English(US) or English (UK), but no matter what you choose all you get is the UK version.

You're right, when I went to install Joomla, I chose en-US, but only en-GB actually installed. After installing, wiping out, and reinstalling Joomla 1.5.22, I immediately added the en-US language pack US_Joomla_lang_full_1.5.15.zip. Next I tried Kunena 1.6.1, and no matter what I do, I get the errors attached.

Here is the location of the US English language pack I used:

I also had en-US selected as the default language before attempting the Kunena installation.
