Matt,

Joomla 1.5 is unfortunately a bit tricky with menus. The issue is that Joomla uses these itemids and creates a new one for every new menu entry you create. These are then used in modules and various other settings.

If the modules disappears on you, it means you have a Joomla menu issue. Most likely 2 places where you link to the same component (Kunena in this case).

To allow multiple links in Joomla it allows for so called Menu Aliases but a few menu modules out there (of some templates) do not work with this basic Joomla feature. If you don't have a problem in your install wit Menu Aliases, I would recommend you use them for your Menu setup.

That menu-item that is in your main menu you have to make as a menu Alias to the Kunena Menu, rather than a menu entry to the component itself.

The Alias in Joomla leverages the identical itemid for all the Aliases as well as the sub menu itself.

This is really a design 'feature' of Joomla itself - a very confusing way to deal with menus. Not something we bargained for, but we are working with the Joomla tech leaders to make this better in future releases of Joomla.

Hope this helps!

OK, I hadn't realised, but when 1.6 installed, it created "sub" entries in that section (as you showed in your image). I hadn't gone back in and selected them (dont think they were available in 1.5.9). All sorted.

THANK YOU SO MUCH GUYS!!
(p.s. just a quickie.... any idea how I can remove a tab I dont want the "help" tab)

Cool. Glad this worked out.

Yes we just leverage Joomla itself for all of this.

As for the Help tab it could not be any simpler: Go to your menu manager, open the entries of the Kunena Menu and change them to your liking - e.g. disable the Help Menu entry.
