Thanks. I have double checked folder security...I don't see any issues there.

I've enabled debug on both Joomla and Kunena. The output from kunena is

Failed to upload file '': File was not uploaded.

The debug from Joomla is quite longer. But I am not able to understand it. Perhaps you can donate some time to review?

I merged several topics together (those that quoted the message text "Failed to upload file '': File was not uploaded.") in order to give you an idea of the situation that we're facing. As you can see, from the other examples, we weren't able to pinpoint the specific cause.

Matias wrote earlier:

Actually this issue doesn't come from file permissions: for some reason file itself was not fetched into the server -- so this is probably configuration issue in server itself or in your browser.

I don't think this is necessarily a browser issue because I was not able to upload a file to your site myself. Not particularly helpful, I agree, but that's the "expert" opinion. I have no doubt that you would be able to prove, on a "vanilla-flavoured" Joomla site, that you do not have any problems. The difficulty, therefore, is to find out what has evolved from the Joomla "stock" into the software "soup" that you have today.

I see that you're using software (Rokbox and VirtueMart) that involve outdated/deprecated PHP functions. It's possible that these extensions may have an impact on Kunena.

Have you made any changes to your .htaccess file? You might also like to read Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) in our Wiki

Thanks again for the response. This is not a heavily modified template. Further, I am now completely unable to attach any files at all. When I click browse, I select the file on my PC and then I get nothing.

Even more interesting - I installed AGORA forum as a test, and I also cannot upload files to AGORA forum. This must be a site issue, not a Kunena issue. I have tried everything to no avail. Very frustrated as I do not know how to solve this issue at all.

File was not uploaded... I think that there are a few possible reasons for this: your tmp directory isn't set right, it has wrong permissions or are outside of base_dir setting. Of course it can be something else, too -- but the issue seems to be that the uploaded file cannot be saved into your server by PHP.

You cannot even install anything by using upload method in Joomla installer, right? How did you install Kunena and Agora? By URL, from local directory?

You need someone who can check your site configuration -- maybe you should contact your service provider?

I can install from backend without a problem, so permissions are not a problem there.

It is so frustrating because a) the editor is missing - all a user sees is emoticons, no other features within the post text field

and b)When I click on add attachment now and select a file, NOTHING at all happens. It does not even paste any of the bbcode into the body of the post.
