Question Embed images into post?

Well, I fear the issue may be this, and it's not a "statement", it's simply a comment.

"K 1.6 has not been tested on an IIS-based configuration (to my knowledge)"

I only say this as I can use the Joomla 1.5 create new article, and then insert an image, and browse my PC, select and it uploads and appears just fine. I did not have to do anything special to make it work, and when Joomla installed, the folder was properly set as writable.

I also installed this afternoon jdownloader to test it out as a file manager. It installed without issue and once working, I was able to use the upload file feature without issue.

All of these files go to their respective folders without any action on my part. That said, as of right now, the only program not doing that, is Kunena. I can also browse to the folder that kunena is uploading to (under media) and confirm that not only are the folder permission the same as the other folders inside media, but they are able to accept files from extension without issues.

Again, I'm not saying its broke, you need to fix it, simply stating the situation I am facing.

But, because I have full access to the server its running on, I may bring up a new site, install Joomla and CB quick and grab the older 1.5.x version of kunena and see if that also has this issue.

On the other hand, why would the extended language support provided by mbstring alter this? Is it a requirement of 1.6

I apologize for resurrecting an old thread, but I think I'm facing the same issue as soulkeeper. Did you ever find a solution?

I'm using IIS6 as well and having the same problem attaching images. When I click submit on a message I receive the error

JFile::copy: Cannot find or read file: 'C:\WINDOWS\Temp\php7F5.tmp'
Failed to upload file 'test.png': Could not move file into D:\Web Shares\Agwa\joomla\media/kunena/attachments\1329/test.png.

Before upgrading to Kunena 1.6.3, I was using Kunena 1.5.x and had no problems attaching images to posts. I also have JDownload installed and have no issues uploading files to it.

Thanks
Shea

G'day, Shea, and welcome to Kunena.

Can you please post your full K 1.6 configuration report? You've removed a few things that might help us to understand better what's happening in your situation. Thanks.

One other point I would also make, please read Support for PC-hosted websites (e.g. WAMP, XAMPP) .

There are a few tricks to implementing SEO on IIS sites. Your Kunena configuration report shows that you do not have a .htaccess file; but in IIS you cannot create a .htaccess file (by renaming, for example, htaccess.txt, on such a site. You can get around this problem by renaming htaccess.txt to .htaccess on a Unix site and then you can FTP the .htaccess file to your IIS site. There are also other directives in IIS to use a different file. Please look at the Joomla support forum for information about how to implement SEO for an IIS site.

Even so, this may or may not assist in your case. IIS uses a different permissions set to Apache. Again, you should enquire at forum.joomla.org to find out more about Joomla's recommendations in relation to directory and file security.

I may have misread your question and I apologise if I have. Kunena has, for the most part, been tested on Apache servers (which is also the situation in general as far as Joomla is concerned). No-one is emphatically saying that Joomla/Kunena is unsupported in IIS environments but we are saying that IIS has its own peculiarities, just like Ubuntu servers behave in slightly different ways to Apache, too.

Thanks for the quick responses.

I followed the recommendations at docs.joomla.org/IIS_and_Joomla for directory and file permissions. I'll try turning the SEO off to see if it makes a difference and I still need to read the link you posted in your previous message to see if there is anything that might help me there.

Could the forward slash vs backslash in the path it's trying to copy the file to make a difference?

Edit:It appears turning SEO off has no effect.
