The problem can be tricky. People say "I've disabled all the modules that appear with the Kunena component but I still can't see the BBcode toolbar." The fact is that it's not just modules.

I tried to spell out where to look here (in msg #95 ) and, in fact, that's what this whole discussion topic is about. There's more to the issue than just disabling modules. It could be a module, a plugin, a template ... many things.

Unfortunately there's not really a simple, quick fix. If you know how to use Firebug effectively then you can get to the heart of the matter reasonably quickly. For those of you who don't know how to use Firebug effectively, there's really only the trial-and-error approach. Most of these problems seem to occur because of the extra "stuff" that's added by the Joomla site template that users have installed. Other causes are the result of components they've added (or the plugins installed with those other components).

I hope this helps to explain why it's difficult to answer this question with a one-size-fits-all solution. I would, however, say (with a clean conscience) that all of the problems that users experience are the result of the choices that users have made in selecting the different Joomla extensions that they are currently using.

This a real nightmare, I waited so long to for the new update of kunena and now this. I wonder if there is anything that stands out. Would it be a module that is present on the main forum page or only on the "post a message" page where the tool bar is missing?

Have you made sure that the Mootools plugin is the very first in the list of system plugins? This was the fix that worked for me.

I forgot to say thank you - it was " JCH_Optimize" - I changed some settings and it worked - can't remember exactly at the moment - just reduced the options activated.

Stop all the presses!! I have the solution!

This has nothing to do with rockettheme templates! This is how I solved it:

In a testing server I did a fresh instalation of joomla. Next I had imported my old joomla database from the problematic kunena forum. Them I installed all the modules and plugins that I use in my "oficial" website and Kunena 1.6 as well. When you have all working fine as the original website, copy paste the files to the website root.

B) Kunena toolbar working fine!

The problem may rest in some joomla security update that did some damages to my core files.

Seems to be a light in this nightmare...;)
