Migrate 1.6. to 1.7 was created by gyedema
I have an old Kunena forum, under an old Joomla installation. We decided to setup de website from scratch, but it would be very nice if all the forum content could be saved.

Is there a way to migrate the 1.6 content to 1.7 under Joomla 2.5? That would be very very great...!!

Yes, if you have the patience and the know-how, you can do this: see Import Kunena forum data to other Kunena forum which contains a very rough guide.

(bit late reply, sorry for that. Was on a short vacation in Edinburgh).

I've been reading the guide, and it makes sense. However: I guess migration to 1.7 on the live site is mandatory? I'm asking because I tried upgrading before and I have a template issue. Also one of the reasons to start from scratch.

So, if I first upgrade to 1.7, I have a display problem with the live forum. Which means that if we choose to migrate, we have to do it at night in a very short time...

I will discuss this with the site owner and hope she chooses to start also from scratch with the (excellent) Kunena forum. Alas.. I think she will not agree, because we need to register all the users again... :-(

Joomla template issue or Kunena template issue?

No, Joomla template issue. The css caused the Kunena forum to display in a weird way (I have some other posts about that, quite a while ago).

It's not our job to search the forum to find these things. Why did you not remind us, or let us know that your questions have not been answered?

Upgrade to K 1.7.2 and fix the templating issues; then migrate. Easy! ;)
