Eh.. because maybe I didn't recall it only after this issue?

And Sozzled, I really DO admire your tremendous technical know-how (the guide described above is great) and I really DO appreciate your help. I guess the only thing I'm missing is the non-verbal communication that should go with above statement, because its tone is rather, well, unfriendly. But again, thanks for your help and I will try to do as suggested.

I searched the forum; found an old topic dating back nearly a year and-a-half ago: Weird layout in profile section . Indeed, everything about the problems discussed in that topic were all caused by the Joomla site template. I wish I had written back then what we are currectly referring to today: please read My Joomla template is making a mess of Kunena .

It all comes down to a question of Which comes first? The template or the forum? I do not believe it is sound advice to hang on to a Joomla site template at the expense of maintaining the main features offered by the site. The site template isn't, in my opinion, the main feature; it's just the drawcard to get customers into using the site. Anyway, that's your choice.

I like to get to the point. Sometimes, when I write, I may seem to be rather blunt when I make the point. However, being blunt is not the same as being unfriendly. I always try to be helpful. :)

And helpful you are, as I said before. And I appreciate that.

Small update here. I managed to change the template; after making a new .zip file with the latest artisteer version the new Kunena forum displays everything ok. So, that problem is solved.

However, it seems that migrating from 1.5.23 to 1.7/2.5 is a big problem. With jUpgrade, the site won't run after migrating. That leaves me the only option of trying to import the kunena sql data in the new database..... :(

If your Joomla site template is no longer in the way of upgrading to K 1.7.2, then we would advise you to upgrade to K 1.7.2 and then consider migrating the site (running J! 1.5.23) across to J! 2.5.3. Moving Kunena is straightforward - probably take you a couple of hours - but moving the rest of the site ... ? I have no idea; anything from a couple of hours to a few days.

Depends on what version of jUpgrade you used and whether it was some other Joomla extension that didn't move forward that caused everything to break apart.

The latter is probably the cause indeed; some old stuff (morfeoshow?) that won't migrate and is causing a lot of errors. Also some php errors.

However, users and forum data is rather important for the owner. Migration to Kunena 1.7.2 was a success, as I said here above. So I think I have to sit down with your guide and export/import the data from old/to new database....
