Sometimes I wish that Joomla would generate better error messages..

But as I said earlier, your issue looks like server mis-configuration rather than Kunena issue. Can you upload other files than images or is the issue related to images only?

I am able to upload photos fine using the back-end and the front-end admin edit article feature. I am able to upload avatars and such in JomSocial. The only area where I have an issue at is trying to do file attachments in Kunena.

I totally agree, Joomla! should generate better error messages

You are absolutely correct, I am making a test site on my server now, and I will install Kunena on that and see if I have issues with the feature.

Ok, so you verified that the issue has something to do in the way Kunena deals with attachments. That is a good start.

Now we just need to find out why? In most servers uploads works just fine, but what makes your environment different..? Is it just attachments (images, zip or both?) or do you have the same issue with Kunena avatars? What happens if you try to upload rank in the backend?
