There is no guaranteed 100% effective solution to prevent spam getting into your forum - and this applies to any forum, anywhere in the world, not just forums built using Kunena - except for your vigilance.

Vigilance means that you have to always be on your guard to look out for spam and, when you see it, to remove all traces when it occurs. That's what we do here at this site and that's what is done everywhere else, too. Do you see spam here?

G'day, Michael, and welcome to the forum.

There are several things that you can do to stop people posting objectionable material on your forum. You can ban accounts that post these kinds of things (watch the video How to ban users in Kunena ).

Also, this topic offers many other useful hints and links to various products that help prevent these kinds of incidents happening in future. I hope this helps.

I have the Captcha setup for users that post but I am getting a ton of spam users registering for accounts. Can I use Captcha when people go to create an account for my forum?

Depending on the version of Joomla that you use, you can use ReCAPTCHA with Joomla's account registration procedure. Instructions for use are given in How do you use Recaptcha in Joomla?

Perhaps the best way to protect your forum from spam is to charge people a subscription fee to join your site and, when only after they have paid that fee, then allow them to use your site?

I wonder if there's money to be made from that? Perhaps I should create a website called www.spam-posters-forum.com , charge people $1 to join the site plus $7 per to post as much spam as they like on the forum for one week, and let them do what they like?
