G'day, d4rkcloud, and welcome to Kunena.

What tool did you use to migrate from J! 1.5? What version of Kunena are you using now and what version of Joomla are you using now. Have you watched the video vimeo.com/69818669 ?

The short answer to your question is, based on the information you've given us, no, Idon't know why you're getting this error. Sounds like it was a Joomla migration gone wrong to me.

Hi Sozzled,

thanks for answering so quickly!
I installed kunena 3.0.3 in joomla 2.5.17, the old version was the 1.5.6 in joomla 1.5.26.
I used jupgrade and this is the configuration report:

You can't use Community Builder 1.2.1 with J! 2.5.17 and you definitely cannot use CB 1.2.1 with K 3.0.4. Before you do anything else, make a decision to upgrade CB or uninstall it.

Next step is to upgrade to K 3.0.4.

Last of all, get rid of the conflicting Kunena menu item. The FAQs page will show you how to restore the standard Kunena menu.

After you've done those things, you need to go though, category by category, each of you forum categories and fix the permissions; these things should take a couple of hours.

Ok Sozzled, installed CB 1.9.1 and installed Kunena 3.0.4.
The item menu seems to be ok and the previus error vanished.
In the admin panel i don't see any category. Now you say i should fix the permissions, category by category.
You mean in the ftp? where do i find these categories to fix?

The biggest problem that people have, after migrating from J! 1.5, is caused by the fact that J! 1.5 did not have ACLs. After migrating from J! 1.5 to any later version of Joomla, you need to use the Kunena Category Manager to reset all the forum section and category permissions again.

This problem is discussed in the topic K 3.0: "There are no published categories in ." message . The answers you are looking for are all there.

Ok, i tried to create a new category to use as top level, but...
in the panel where i define the new category i see this error:
Unknown column 'parent_id' in 'where clause' SQL=SELECT a.id, a.name FROM j25_kunena_categories AS a WHERE parent_id='0' AND id!='0' ORDER BY ordering

And when i try to save, i get this error:
Saving category 0 failed: TableKunenaCategories::store() failed - Unknown column 'parent_id' in 'field list' SQL=INSERT INTO `j25_kunena_categories` (`id`,`parent_id`,`name`,`alias`,`locked`,`accesstype`,`access`,`pub_access`,`pub_recurse`,`admin_access`,`admin_recurse`,`ordering`,`published`,`review`,`allow_anonymous`,`post_anonymous`,`description`,`headerdesc`,`class_sfx`,`allow_polls`,`params`) VALUES ('0','0','Provincia','provincia','0','joomla.level','1','1','1','8','1','99999','0','0','0','0','','','','0','{}')

It doesn't let me save anything.
What's wrong...?

I do not know what's wrong. I have not encountered a situation like yours before. It sounds like your SQL tables have something wrong. It sounds like you may need to undertake some detailed analysis of your database tables. There are diagnostic tools available in Kunena that may assist you. (Please note that I have not used these tools and I do not know how to interpret the results.) See Diagnostic tool and Database schema tool .

Ok, in the diagnostic tools i see these problems:
topicMissingCategory TEST FAILED 1 issues
topicMissingMessages TEST FAILED 1 issues DELETE BROKEN ITEMS
messageOrphaned TEST FAILED 25608 issues DELETE BROKEN ITEMS

All the other items are ok!
In the layout scheme i don't see any error.
Should i copy it here?

I don't think we want to see a few thousand lines of text posted here on the forum, no, thank you.

In short, your response confirms my suspicion that you have problems within the database.

To fix this problem means we need to roll up our sleeves and get involved in some creative database repair work. From the looks of things, you have a missing record in the table _kunena_categories. Because you have a missing record, other records in the database contain references to something that doesn't exist. It's my guess that, using a tool like phpMyAdmin, you could patch the database by re-creating the missing information so that the database integrity is restored. As I am sure you would appreciate, doing this kind of work is outside the "standard" support service we offer here in a "question-and-answer forum". This kind of work is specialised, it's one-on-one and it's time-consuming.

I cannot make any guarantees that I could fix this particular problem for you and I cannot give you a reliable estimate of how much time would be involved, either. I think that we're talking a couple of hours.

What do you have to say to this? Would this be worth paying someone else to look at your current situation to see if it's feasible to rectify the problem you now have? As you know, this time of the year is the holiday season and there may be a shortage of skilled specialists available to assist you. I'm only guessing (I can't say for sure) but I think we're talking less than $100.
