K1.6 is safe to upgrade to im personaly running it on a live site and have had very little issues with it although as stated it is only RC1 and some feature may not work exactly as expected.

Excuse me, guys, but I think the discussion is now going off-topic. Here's the problem statement again:

I discovered yesterday when trying to manually rebuild the topic along with its 15 posts under a new topic header by copying and pasting them that When I got to post 11 I got the same bug - a blank page.

We could well ask, what led to the discovery and what led to the need to need to correct what appears to be a database issue ... possibly a database table corruption?

If we could isolate what happened, what is the state of the database, this might explain why the software logic in Kunena is unable to deal with the data exception.

I, too, have been in your situation. I remember several occasions about being hesitant to upgrade because of the numerous reports of errors, problems, difficulties, defects, bugs and God-only-knows-what-else that were, in some cases, merely disguises for questions about how to use/change/add/delete some Kunena functionality or completely external as far as Kunena was concerned. I recall that I held off upgrading for three weeks until the dust had cleared enough and I had sufficient confidence to go ahead and upgrade.

But, having said that, let's not fall into the trap of wandering off-topic into whether or not upgrading to K 1.6 is a good idea or, even, whether K 1.6 will solve this problem.

The bottom line is that you shouldn't have this problem in K 1.5 and we need to find out what's causing it.

If a Kunena moderator would like database or admin access to my site please let me know. It might be best to experience the problem first hand. I think it might be somehow related to CB component as site visitors can view the threads only members who are logged on cannot view the thread. But As I am running latest version of Kunena and CB then it leaves me scratching my head. I will turn off sh404 now completely and report back if sh404 is the cause. But I doubt it because I already turned off the Kunena component on sh404.

OK I turned off sh404 completely and this did not solve blank page. So I proceeded to upgrade joomla from 1.5.18 to latest version using ftp. Unfortunately the upgrade failed and I was left with zero access to site or backend just a blank page. So no I am downloading cpanel backup to desktop and will restore once that is complete.

Aggggh!

Do you have tried to enable debug mode in Joomla! configuration panel to see if there are errors instead of a blank page ?

I don't provide support by PM, because this can be useful for someone else.

***** Please note - this is off-topic to the main discussion:

I received the following reply from my webhosting provider in response to my question about increasing the memory limit for my site:

Unfortunately it is not possible to up this limit as it is a server wide preference that is set in place to ensure quality of service to all accounts. custom php.inis are not supported on our systems and will have no effect.

I hope this helps

Well, it doesn't really help but it confirmed my suspicions that the means to increase the PHP memory limit will not always lie within the reach of all users. As I am not currently experiencing any issues in this regard in my own webcraft I am content for the present.
