All the upgrade code from 1.0.4 (and prior versions) is inside of Kunena. You can go straight to the Kunena version you want. Just make sure you run that converter first if you want to preserve settings before the uninstall.

Quick question:

I am finally upgrading one of my forum sites from Fireboard 1.04 -> FB 1.05 converter -> Kunena 1.5.8. It hasn't had any problems, but I need to make the transition to a component with a future.

Current configuration: Search Engine Friendly URLs (SEF) not enabled.

Q: Should I enable SEF before upgrading? I seem to remember reading an earlier post that it can cause problems if SEF is not enabled prior to upgrading from Fireboard to Kunena.

For Kunena it does not matter if SEF is enabled or not (in Kunena Config). And because of FireBoard does not have SEF of any kind, it doesn't matter..

Only thing that will break is old links to your site (including Google until they update their index), if you do not create Apache redirects from com_fireboard to com_kunena.
