Actually this is a really bad point for Joomla and, if you look at what the expert commentators have to write about Joomla (compared with other products in the CMS space) you will see that this is one of its biggest shortcomings. Kunena just uses whatever you have installed on your Joomla website. If there was a native Joomla ACL system in place, Kunena would use that and you could control who had access your forum and how they accessed it. But there isn't at the moment. There are third-party products on the market that you can use, if you want to learn about them and if you're prepared to pay for them.

If you want it free then you'll just have to be patient a little while longer. If you want it now then it will cost you. Simple as that. :)

I don't recommend any third-party products (not because I don't like them) because that's not the "business" we are in. OK? B)

G'day, Smithbrokes, and welcome to Kunena.

I'm sorry but I do not understand your question "what is the reason behind this?" What, specifically, is the "this" that you are referring to. The last message posted in this discussion was made nearly two weeks ago and it's a little difficult for me to simply pick up the gist of what you have written in the context of what has gone before.

I think we have tried to explain, perhaps not very successfully, that some access control issues are simply outside the scope of Kunena and have their roots embedded within Joomla. We, like many others, are waiting on Joomla to provide the tools/features that allow Kunena to accommodate the functionality that is being requested.

Would you like to elaborate a bit more on what your specific concerns are, how you see the issue being resolved, and what steps you think we need to take in this matter.

Thank you. :)
