We're happy to do our best to help: sometimes our suggestions work and sometimes they don't. Getting to the heart of the problem is difficult in this kind of situation; there are so many potential differences between your "vanilla-flavoured" website and this one here at www.kunena.com (which is still, essentially, not a heavily hi-tech website).

So, again, before we all point the finger of blame at your web hosting provider, let's eliminate as many variables as we can:

What Joomla template are you using? I have asked you this question 3 times and I still haven't seen your answer.

What version Apache web server (you mentioned Apache in your last posting, so I presume that's what your hosting provider uses) and what is the operating system foundation (e.g. Linux)?

What version PHP are you using?

What version MySQL are you using?

As you will see, if you try the experiment yourself here, at www.kunena.com , the message ordering/"last page" linking operates the way that one would expect that it should behave (at an intuitive level). So this leaves us with the question: what's different between your website and this one (and my one, and several thousand other ones)? When we've pinpointed and eliminated this difference your problem is solved.

As one last suggestion, if you search these forums using your web hosting provider as the search term, do you get any results? ;)

Sorry, but as I described what I installed, I thought it was clear, that I use all the defaults of Joomla ... which regarding templates is "rhuk_milkyway"

What version Apache web server (you mentioned Apache in your last posting, so I presume that's what your hosting provider uses) and what is the operating system foundation (e.g. Linux)?

OS is Linux (Kernel 2.6.18-164.11.1.el5) and Apache-Version 2.2.14

What version PHP are you using?

5.2.12

What version MySQL are you using?

5.0.90

Yes I recognized that ... the real strange thing is that every installation I did with Kunena on my server showed this issue - even if nothing else is around.

As one last suggestion, if you search these forums using your web hosting provider as the search term, do you get any results? ;)

No, no hits in this forum for my provider (Webhostingpad) at all.
BTW: I tried also the other way around and checked the support-center of my provider for information about Kunena - couldn't find anything there as well.

Just spoke to one of teh devs here and he stated this :

imho this is known bug in kunena at least it was, it should be fixed in k1.6

so my conclusion is: it would seems this is a bug in kunena, that only affects certain sites and has been corrected in the fast approaching K1.6 ( availible as an alpha but not to be used on live production sites ).....

Hi Cerberus

I downloaded the 1.6 alpha and added it on my new installation of yesterday (actually I migrated the 1.5.11 installation).

The issue actually did also appear there :-(

BTW: Thanks for the site-reviews.
At the moment this doesn't help.

Seppi

seppi: you're certainly welcome to give K 1.6 alpha a try, as a test of course, to see if this problem occurs on your hosted environment. Perhaps this is one of those things that can't be fixed in K 1.5?

I've just been having a long chat with the development team about various technical problems that I've had and we've come to the same conclusion: because of the different environments that we're all using it's simply impossible for us to reproduce every error situation that's possible. Everyone is different ... vive la différance!
