Question Links to latest post are ending up on the last page of the thread

I'm using "default_ex" and the most users have configured their settings to have the threats shown in reverse order.

However, all links (no matter which ones ... latest post module, email-info, links after posting, etc.) that should lead to the latest post are ending up on the last page of the threat. As it is in reversed order this is not where the latest posts are, but the oldest ones.

I remember having seen about a year ago a threat about this problem, but cannot find it anymore (might searching for the wrong thing).

Is there an update, if this behavior will be fixed any time soon?

See your other post same applies, there is an underlying issue that is not related to kunena that is causing you issues.

Based on your feedback I did the following test:
I downloaded the latest Joomla-Version 1.5.18 and installed it.
New directory, new DB

I downloaded the latest Kunena-Version 1.5.11 and also installed it.
Nothing else was installed.

Kunena-Template is: Default_Ex

Regarding settings I just reduced the amount of messages per page, so I could simulate quickly.
And user setting I have change to latest post first.
Nothing else.

BTW: I haven't even created another user - it's just the admin.


And this problem is already there ... so, NO it's not something else - it seems to be Kunena!


Any idea how to address this?

hmm thats a strange one not sure how to fix that one at the moment but i will look into it for you.

I realise, it's difficult knowing where to search, but this "last post first" vs. "first post first" message ordering question is asked a lot of times!

The basic operation of message ordering is defined on a per-user basis. Each user can decide how they would like to see their messages, either "first post first" or "last post first". While there has been a lot of discussion about having a global setting for this feature (and some users have even developed their own hacks for the purpose), the operation has not changed throughout K 1.5. However, even though each user can decide their own preference, sometimes this doesn't work because the site owner has used a non-standard Kunena template. The default, default_gray, default_green and default_red templates were notorious for causing this problem and that was one of the reasons they were withdrawn from K 1.5; despite this, users still occasionally pick up those old defective templates and try to make them work ... without success, of course! This is another reason that prompted the topic There is only one endorsed and supported Kunena template ... default_ex

All of what I have written may be irrelevant to your specific problem, but I thought I should mention it in case there is something you have overlooked.

I also vaguely remember something about message ordering and "last post" and the symptoms you described. I'm not sure if the answer was "this is a known defect in Kunena (and we haven't fixed it, yet)" or whether the answer was "this is a defect of the outdated Kunena templates."

Without knowing all the facts, I have to conclude, as Cerberus did, that your problem seems to be generated by something outside of a standard, unmodified Kunena installation. But we could both be wrong! In view of the fact that you have two, seemingly unrelated, problems (that can't be reproduced here at www.kunena.com and that we cannot reproduce at our own websites) we have to look at what else you're doing. Can you reproduce these same conditions on a totally new Joomla 1.5.18 website, using the rhuk_milkyway site template, with no other components installed except for Kunena 1.5.11? (without making any changes to the configuration settings). If you can reproduce these problems under this scenario, then I would conclude that you have a problem with your web-server or your web hosting provider. If you can't reproduce these symptoms, then you should look at the differences between the test site you have built and the site(s) where you have the problems and eliminate those differences.

And, when I wrote that I could not reproduce the symptoms of your problem here at www.kunena.com , I actually tried it myself. I changed my preference to "last post first", clicked the "last post" link, and I was taken to the correct place.

Thanks for your engagement here.

As said before, I have recreated this problem with a fresh install of Joomla 1.5.18 (incl. Demo-Data) and Kunena 1.5.11 ... nothing else I have installed.

The only changes to the configuration I made are the following:
Back-End:
- Set the amount of messages per page to "3" (so issue would show up quickly)
- I configured a menu-item "Kunena" in the mainmenu, so I could get into it.
Front-End:
- I configured the Kunena-Profile of the user to show "latest post first"

No other changes were made.
You see, I really limited the changes to a minimum.
I also doublecheck the Kunena-Template, default_ex is set right after installation.
So, there are no conflicting modules ... except Joomla-Base would already include one, which then again would be a Kunena-Issue.


I replied with the user 3 times to the existing "welcome to Kunena"-Threat and voila, the issue already is reproduced.

Based on Suzzled's latest input it would mean, that my provider is using some other settings than your's. The question is - which ones?
If I got your statement right, this issue is coming up from time to time ... so it might worth some time to figure out, what settings (I guess, PHP- or Apache-Settings) could be causing that.
