rss still not working for me even with sef on was created by yellowdog
Hi
I upgraded from 1.08 to 1.09 this morning eager to get the rss working.
I had to switch off the rss previously because it wasn't working.
I read that its been fixed in 1.09 but not for me.
The standard rss syndication module works for me on the site but not the kunena one. I'm running 1.5.10. I've tried it with sef off and on.

G'day, yellowdog,
I'd like to help you if I could but I'm not sure where to start. How about: we start with:
Joomla version: 1.5.10
Kunena version: 1.0.9
mysql server version:
php version:
php max_execution_time :
php memory_limit :
safe_mode :
Joomla template:
Kunena template:
Then we should add to this list third-party components (like sh404SEF).
Are you running your server with cache on? What about the RSS feed - is caching enabled for the feed component? In other words, is caching interfering with delivering a fresh RSS feed.
I was using RSS feeds with no problems under K 1.0.8. Still no problems under 1.0.9.
The biggest cause of all problems in Kunena is because people are running with all kinds of "customisations" and a large mix of different components. There's a likelihood that another component may be interfering with your Kunena RSS feed. To verify this, you should disable as many modules/components as you can (leaving just enough to let you login and test Kunena) to see if this changes things. Then, one by one, re-enable those components to see which one is the culprit.

One of the (only two) minor customisations that I was involved with as part of my K 1.0.9 upgrade had to do with the file ../components/com_kunena/lib/kunena.rss.php. I, too, had problems seeing the results of the RSS feed, however I was using the results of the feed in a Joomla module (see
A simple alternative to the "latest posts module"
if you're interested in the details.)
Although I eventually worked through my problems I can't explain what ultimately made things work (it might have had something to do with caching or not) but I can say that when you click the glyph within the forum you should see something! What I do believe, though, is that the current, untarnished version of kunena.rss.php that forms part of the K 1.0.9 package should work without further modification.

G'day, paspoes. It's possible that there's something peculiar about your Kunena/Joomla installation that you haven't told us. I wonder, if it would not be too much trouble, could I ask you for a few more details:
Joomla version:
Kunena version:
mysql server version:
php version:
php max_execution_time :
php memory_limit :
safe_mode :
Joomla template:
Kunena template:
Have you made any changes to the Kunena source code that was installed, and which files were they?
Additional, 3rd- party components installed (e.g. sh404SEF) or anything else relevant:
Are you running your server with cache on? Is caching enabled or disabled for the RSS feed?
Lastly, you may want review your Kunena configuration settings and reset them to their initial values, at least while you're troubleshooting your problems. See docs.kunena.com/index.php/Kunena_Configuration
