For example:
What directory do the files upload to?
• Should it be the root directory?
• Should it be a designated folder? (/forums or /kunena)
What specific file starts the install through the Joomla installer?
• Is it a component or a module or a mambot?
As you can tell, I'm quite new to Kunena and Joomla in general. I can already tell how powerful it is, but the simple things are still beyond me as documentation is a bit scarce, if not just completely vague.
Any help is much appreciated.

Kunena 1.0.10 is the latest stable public release. Kunena 1.0.10 should be installed on Joomla 1.5.x running in "legacy mode" - see Legacy mode . For more reasons than I have the time or space to devote to this subject, you should not attempt to install Kunena on a Joomla 1.0.x website. Because of this
- these questions have no signficance or meaning in a Joomla 1.5 environment. What specific file starts the install through the Joomla installer?
• Is it a component or a module or a mambot?
Work has been ongoing for the past six weeks (or thereabouts) on a Joomla 1.5 native version of Kunena. This version (codenamed Kunena 1.5) is still under development. If you have never used Kunena before, do not attempt to download and install this version!
Kunena 1.0.10 works!
An overview of the installation procedure is given at Installation instructions . Version-specific instructions are provided in the readme.txt file accompanying the installation kit.
There is no need to answer the questions
because these questions are not applicable when installing other Joomla extensions either. Kunena, like all other Joomla 1.5 extensions, are installed with the Joomla Extension Manager. What directory do the files upload to?
• Should it be the root directory?
• Should it be a designated folder? (/forums or /kunena)

Quite simply, what directory should I upload to since it will inevitably time-out?
In conjunction with that, what is the directory name that I should provide for the installer?
/home/content/d/e/r/MYDATABASENAME/html/nullify/administrator/components/com_installer/component
This is the default, but when I try uploading to /temp and installing, it gives me a white page after about 4 minutes of waiting.

What version of Joomla are you running? How do you know the installation will inevitably time-out?Quite simply, what directory should I upload to since it will inevitably time-out?
The short answer is this: as Matias wrote in #15746 deposit the unzipped Kunena installation kit in "some directory in your server and then install it from there". I would suggest creating a folder in your site root directory called /Kunena_installation_kit ... that's just my suggestion. After you've installed you can delete the installation directory and its files.
