Question Restricting access to certain forums

I know that wasn't his question. But I looked at the workaround and suspected this and I thought others might as well. So it was my question. Just wanted it made clear that if you try this workaround people will have access to parts of Joomla they might not want average users to have.

You're right but the backend is not the only thing. With the admin-rights they can write/edit/delete articles in the frontend too.

So it is better to take the "author" level (only, without above) if you don't want to give admin-rights. So no one can edit your Joomla, only write articles that never published.
