Kunena 7.0.2 Released

The Kunena team has announce the arrival of Kunena 7.0.2 [K 7.0.2] in stable which is now available for download as a native Joomla extension for J! 5.3.x/5.4.x/6.0.x. This version addresses most of the issues that were discovered in K 6.2 / K 6.3 / K 6.4 and issues discovered during the last development stages of K 7.0

This is for users to help other users, to discuss topics that relate to migrating from other web-based forums and converting the data into a form that will operate with Kunena.

It is important to note that the Kunena team does not have a standard, recommended or supported protocol for these ideas and that posting questions in this category may not receive advice from team members.

I'm glad to read that it worked for you. yes, I would also like to get away from Easydiscuss as quickly as possible.

do you perhaps have a few tips on what to consider when migrating? Or did you have sql queries created with Chatgpt or how did that help you?

As with anything technically complex and AI, there's considerable back and forth to figure everything out. It will require you to be comfortable with PHPMyAdmin at least an intermediate level to execute the commands that ChatGPT provides. I'd advise that if you've got very limited experience there to seek the help of someone who has more.

I couldn't hope to provide a step-by-step. There were a lot of little problems that kept popping up. The two components share some similarities, but they are different enough structurally that it makes things pretty messy. It didn't help that ChatGPT's knowledge of how the two components work is somewhat flawed. I kept having to correct its logic on certain things... And attachments were just never going to get matched to their original messages. Fortunately enough, our forum is pretty small in scope, and so I was able to manually handle all of those. Perhaps another AI engine is better suited? Perplexity? Claude? I wish I could be of more help, but suffice it to say, it's pretty painful. Just slightly less painful than hobbling around with EasyDiscuss into the future. Good riddance.
