Solved Emoticons / Smileys not working - adding new emoticons do not appear

Thanks rich. Yes I have those installed. Here are some screen shots that may help with diagnosis:






I also noticed that I have no "Disable Emoticons Initial/default value: No" option in the BBCode  section of the configuration settings.

I've also rebuilts the Kunena menu and run the diagnostics too which says everything is OK.
Should I do a total uninstall and reinstall or can the database be refreshed to add the smileys / emoticons in?
Why would the Disable Emoticon option be missing from the configuration.

Is there an entry in the file /components/com_kunena/template/aurelia/config/config.xml: <field name="Smiley" ?

I think you are looking in the wrong Kunena configuration, the settings for Disable Emoticon option are in Aurelia under BBCode. 

Can reproduce it on clean install. With or without sample data.
