when you on the kunena dashboard, on the backend. You will see a button with "Options" on the top right.

This will open the joomla permissions.

There you made a change, so you need to check the permissions of the usergroup.

Yes, I already did that. Some people were also showing up as "site admins" in Kunena because they were in the author group. I removed one of them from that group, and then the other users also ceased to be site admins in Kunena. Unfortunately, so did I, and I am admin in Kunena and site admin. It's a mess - there's a really bad bug in there. And it seems my only option for upgrading, is a clean install from scratch. I don't know what to tell the users.

No need, you need to recreate the usergroups correct, then move the users.

Then it should be ok.

todo:
1) create new usergroup "registered1"
2) Move all users to "registered1"
3) Then it should work.

I don't think we understand each other. "Recreate the groups"? We have 19 user groups and 1300 users. Internally, Kunena is getting confused about who is admin and who isn't. I don't see how moving all users from one group to another can help. For example, I am a member of 15 groups.

Ok, then you need to fix the permissions.

For normal users, it should be disabled. But I think you allow them.

Like I already said, nobody apart from admin has any access. And now it's even locked out the admins. You don't believe me, but it's true.

The real question here has to be, how can I upgrade from this bad version to a newer one without having to start from scratch?

Thanks in advance.
